Frequently asked questions
Everything families ask us about FamTrip3: the live map, Fam AI, privacy and pricing.
What is FamTrip3?
FamTrip3 is a family app that combines a live family map — with arrival notices, battery and speeding alerts — with Fam AI, an assistant that plans outings using real, verified places.
Is FamTrip3 free?
Yes, there is a free plan with the live family map for up to 3 people, 3 saved places, 2 days of trips, one AI plan to try and 10 messages with Fam AI to try. Plus is $5.99 a month for up to 8 people per circle and Pro is $9.99 a month for up to 20, for the whole family.
Does FamTrip3 work on iPhone and Android?
FamTrip3 is available on Google Play for Android. The iPhone and iPad version is coming soon to the App Store.
Does FamTrip3 sell my data?
No. FamTrip3 has no ads and does not sell your data. Your location is used only to run the app for you and your circle.
Who can see my location?
Only the people in the circles where you are visible. Adults can go private in a circle, or stop sharing, at any time; a kid’s sharing is managed by their parents.
What languages does FamTrip3 speak?
English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
How do I delete my account?
In Settings → Delete account, or without the app at famtrip3.com/delete-account. Your data is deleted with it; circles you created are handed to a parent, or another adult, so your family keeps them.
Does FamTrip3 work when the app is closed?
Yes. If you allow location “Always”, FamTrip3 keeps sharing your location with your circle when the app is closed. iPhone shows the location indicator while it does, so you always know.
How accurate is the live map?
FamTrip3 uses your phone’s GPS and draws each trip from many points along the way, so trips follow the actual streets. Indoors, GPS can drift a few dozen yards; FamTrip3 doesn’t count that as leaving a place.
Can I see where my family was earlier today?
Yes. Tap a person to see their day, trip by trip, with times, miles and the route on the map.
Is Fam AI a real person?
No. Fam AI is an AI assistant. It answers with your family’s information inside FamTrip3, and it checks every place it suggests, but always confirm what matters before you go.
Can Fam AI change my plans without asking?
No. Every change appears as a card you have to tap. Nothing is changed until you do.
How many messages can I send?
Free includes 10 messages with Fam AI to try. Plus includes 50 a day and Pro 150 a day.
How many plans can I make?
Free includes one AI plan to try. Plus includes 10 plans a month and Pro has no monthly limit. Trips of several days are part of Pro.
Where do the places come from?
Places are checked against a verified places database before they reach your plan, with their address, hours and rating.
Does it work outside Miami?
Yes. FamTrip3 plans anywhere in the United States, starting from where you are or from the city you name.
How does FamTrip3 know the speed limit?
FamTrip3 looks up the posted speed limit for the road you’re on and compares it with your phone’s GPS speed.
Does the driver get the alert?
No. Only the other adults in the circle get it.
Does it alert on city streets?
No. FamTrip3 only checks speeds of 65 mph or more, so it doesn’t alert about speeding on slower city streets.
Can I turn speeding alerts off?
Speeding alerts go to adults. In Settings → Speeding alerts, whoever created the circle chooses who is an adult.
Can a kid hide from their parents?
No. Kids can’t go private, turn sharing or trip history off in the app, block a parent or leave the circle on their own. Their parents manage that.
Who decides who is an adult?
The organizer — whoever created the circle — and the adults the organizer names as parents.
What happens if someone’s phone dies?
The people who can see them on the map get a notification and an email with the last place they were and how much battery they had. When the phone turns back on, they get another notification.
Will FamTrip3 drain my battery?
FamTrip3 turns GPS off when you’re still and only updates often while you move, so typical use is light. Driving with someone watching uses more, like any navigation app.
Where does the weather come from?
In the United States, from the National Weather Service (weather.gov). Everywhere else, from Apple Weather.
Who gets severe weather alerts?
The adults in the circle, when a warning covers someone they can see on the map. One notification per warning.
Does the weather work outside the United States?
Yes. Outside the U.S. the forecast and the serious warnings come from Apple Weather, so the card works wherever your family travels.
Where does the earthquake data come from?
From the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), which covers earthquakes around the world.
Who gets an earthquake alert?
Everyone in the circle who can see the person near the earthquake on the map — adults and kids alike, following the same rules as the map.
Does FamTrip3 warn before an earthquake?
No. FamTrip3 tells your family within minutes after an earthquake, with how far it was from each person. It doesn’t predict earthquakes or warn before the shaking.
Does it work outside the United States?
Yes. USGS publishes earthquakes worldwide, so it works wherever your family is.
How many places can I save?
Free includes 3 saved places per circle. Plus and Pro have no limit.
Do I get a notice if my phone was offline?
The arrival is saved with the real time and uploaded when the signal comes back. If it happened a long time ago, it goes to the activity log without a notification.
How far back can I see trips?
Free keeps 2 days, Plus 30 days and Pro 90 days.
Can I share my location without saving my trips?
Yes. Turn off Location history in Settings: your circle still sees where you are, but no trips are saved.
Does everyone need to open the app?
No. Arrivals are marked from each person’s location while they share it with the circle.
Which plans include the live plan?
Plus and Pro.
Does navigation work without the plan?
Navigation is built into plans: tap Go on any stop to get directions there.
Is there a widget for Android?
Widgets and the Live Activity are on iPhone for now.
Can someone join my circle without my approval?
No. Whoever uses your code asks to join, and you decide.
Can I be in more than one circle?
Yes, and you can be visible in one and private in another.
Can each person in my family use a different language?
Yes. The language is per person, and notifications arrive in the language of whoever receives them.
Does FamTrip3 sell my location data?
No. FamTrip3 has no ads and does not sell your data.
What happens if someone gets my password?
You get an email when a new phone signs in. Changing your password signs out every other phone.
