GPS sleeps when you’re still
After five minutes without really moving, FamTrip3 places a small virtual fence around you and turns GPS off. The moment you leave that fence, your phone wakes FamTrip3 up and GPS turns back on — even if the app was closed. Your family keeps seeing you at home the whole time.
Movement, not a clock
Many apps send your location every few seconds whether you move or not. FamTrip3 sends it when you move. Someone who spends the day at home sends a few dozen updates instead of thousands.
Fast only when someone is watching
While you drive, FamTrip3 updates every few seconds if someone in your circle has the map open, so they can watch you move. If nobody is looking, it updates less often — and the full trip still arrives.
See everyone’s battery
The map shows each person’s battery level, and FamTrip3 tells you when someone’s battery is low, so you know why they might drop off the map.
When a phone dies
If someone’s phone runs out of battery and turns off, the people who can see them get a notification and an email with the last place they were: “Emma’s phone turned off. It had 3% battery. Last seen at Coral Gables Museum.” When the phone is back on, you get another one. Someone who was sitting still with the GPS asleep isn’t treated as “off” right away: FamTrip3 waits an hour and says the phone may have turned off.
